Devotees immersed in the devotion of Baba Khatu Shyam… Colorful flags in their hands… And a grand chariot decorated with flowers in front… This Nishan Yatra, which took place on the streets of Hyderabad, was no less than a festival. Organized by the Simlawala family, the biggest attraction in this Yatra was Baba Khatu Shyam's grand chariot, beautifully decorated with flowers and vibrant colors. Devotees were seen singing hymns and kirtans while walking alongside the chariot. Chants of "Baba Khatu Shyam Hamara, the support of the defeated," echoed throughout. In this atmosphere of devotion, everyone seemed immersed in Baba's colors. A special feature of the Nishan Yatra is that devotees reach Baba's court with a flag in their hands. It is considered a symbol of faith and devotion. In this Yatra, devotees set out to have the darshan of their deity, carrying colorful flags in their hands. Devotees were seen dancing to the beats of DJs, drums, and bands. People moved forward singing and dancing to devotional songs, and the entire atmosphere was filled with devotion. Sanjeev Agarwal was responsible for ensuring the smooth conduct of this devotional journey. He played a key role in ensuring the success of the journey by coordinating with everyone from the administration to the local people. Sanjeev Agarwal's efforts were to ensure that the journey was free from obstacles and that all devotees could participate with joy and devotion. The local administration also extended its full support in making this journey a success. The colors of Holi were clearly visible during the Nishan Yatra. Devotees made the journey even more joyful by throwing gulal (coloured powder) and dancing to devotional songs. Women, young, and elderly—people from all walks of life—participated in this journey. Ramesh Agarwal, head of the Simlawala family, was also seen enthusiastically welcoming the devotees. He said that it is only because of Baba's grace that this yatra becomes more grand every year. The tradition of playing Holi with flowers and gulal (coloured powder) during the Nishan Yatra is considered very old. This tradition is considered a symbol of Radha-Krishna's eternal love, mutual brotherhood, and the welcome of spring. In fact, this tradition is inspired by the Holi of Braj, where the colours of gulal convey the message of devotion, joy, and positive energy. When devotees apply colours to each other, the walls of caste, discrimination, jealousy, and hatred are broken, and the message of love and equality spreads in society. According to mythological belief, Lord Krishna initiated the tradition of Holi with colours and gulal. It is said that Krishna celebrated this festival of love and joy by applying colours to Radha Ji. This tradition is still followed by devotees today as a symbol of devotion. Flinging gulal is not just a celebration, but also a means of expressing devotion and joy towards God. Let's take a look at some of the most special moments of this journey, captured on camera. This grand Nishan Yatra concluded with prayers at the Khatu Shyam Temple in Kanchiguda, Hyderabad. But the Simlawala family believes that the journey is not complete until Baba is seen at the Khatu Shyam Temple in Rajasthan. With this resolve, family members—Girish Agarwal, Gunjan Agarwal, Deepak Agarwal, and several other devotees—set out on their journey, carrying the Nishan. Located in the Sikar district of Rajasthan, the Khatu Shyam Temple is a major center of faith for devotees across the country. It is believed that this temple was built in the 11th century by Raja Roop Singh Chauhan and his wife, Narmada Kanwar. Legend has it that Raja Roop Singh had a vision of Baba Khatu Shyam in a dream and was told that his head was buried in a specific location. When excavations were carried out at that location, Baba's head was recovered, and the temple was established at that very spot. Even today, millions of devotees from across the country arrive here to have Baba's darshan. Most devotees traveling to Khatu Shyam Temple disembark at Ringas Railway Station and travel on foot. The distance from Ringas to Khatu Shyam Temple is approximately 17 kilometers. Devotees cover this distance in approximately 4 to 5 hours. During this journey, devotees continuously chant Baba's name and complete the journey with devotion. Filled with devotion, faith, and enthusiasm, this Nishan Yatra is not just a religious event but also conveys the message of social unity and love. When thousands of people chant Baba's name together, the entire atmosphere becomes filled with devotion. And this is the greatest power of devotion to Khatu Shyam Baba... which imbues every devotee with its color.
